Our Story

Some people grow up around cool things.
For Eddie Barrett, cool things became an obsession.

As a small child, Eddie remembers his father taking him for rides on his custom chopper. The sound, the style, the craftsmanship, the freedom — it instantly lit a fire inside him that never went away. From that moment on, he was hooked on anything creative, mechanical, custom, and different.

Like most kids, it started with bicycles… but not for long. Eddie and his friends immediately began building bicycle choppers, modifying anything they could get their hands on, and experimenting with anything motorized. One of Eddie’s earliest memories was his father buying him his first riding lawn mower. Naturally, Eddie decided to “improve” it by messing with the governor… and promptly blew the engine. To this day, he’s still not sure if his father ever truly forgave him for that one.

As he got older, skateboarding became a huge part of his life. Growing up in New England, winters made skating difficult, and endless garage sessions eventually turned into something much bigger. Eddie and his friends created their own skateboard magazine, which later evolved into music, graphics, apparel printing, and creative design work. Those experiences opened up a whole new world of imagination and artistic expression that would later shape everything he built.

Life changed dramatically after Eddie crashed his mother’s brand-new Chevy Blazer while driving with friends. What seemed like a teenage mistake turned into a major turning point in life. Family hardships followed, forcing his family to move around frequently. During those years, Eddie spent a lot of time alone, working at convenience stores during the day and trying to keep old beat-up cars alive at night just so he could have transportation.

Without realizing it, he was teaching himself how to solve problems, fabricate repairs, and understand how things worked.

Then came the moment that changed everything.

While attending a family wedding in Georgia, Eddie saw his first fully customized modern vehicle. It stopped him in his tracks. The design, craftsmanship, paintwork, and individuality instantly gave him the bug for autobody, fabrication, and custom automotive design.

The moment he returned home, he enrolled in a local trade school — and immediately excelled.

One memory still stands out vividly. The instructor would dent a fender and assign students to repair it. Eddie completed the task quickly, and after finishing early, instead of waiting around, he grabbed an old damaged hood, fabricated a custom hood scoop into it, and custom painted the entire piece.

At the end of the week, parents were invited in to see what students had accomplished. While most students proudly rolled out repaired fenders, Eddie carried out an entire custom-fabricated and painted hood.

His father laughed.

But the teacher saw something bigger.

Recognizing Eddie’s talent, creativity, and drive, the instructor took him under his wing and hired him at his personal body shop. During the day, Eddie would help teach second-year students. At night, he worked in the shop building and repairing vehicles.

That’s where it truly began.
